BBLC introduces seasonal tariff and DA, W/END and WDNW products
Starting 1st of May 2024 BBL Company will introduce a tariff discount for seasonal capacity products and will expand its capacity product portfolio by offering shorter term products.
Implementation enhanced pressure service 2024
On 2 April 2024, Ofgem approved the Interconnection Agreement and the Pressure Service Charges Agreement between BBL Company and National Gas Transmission which includes the Enhanced Pressure Service (EPS). The EPS makes it possible for BBL Company to increase the Reverse Flow capacity at IP Bacton from 7,699,193 kWh/h to 10 GWh/h. The increased pressure service will be implemented from 23 April 2024 onwards and is agreed upon to be on a best efforts and a temporary basis, applying up to and including Gas Day 31 December 2024.
Announcement BBL physical flow switch to Reverse Flow
The BBL physical flow direction is currently in Forward Flow mode (NL > GB). BBLC will switch the physical flow direction to Reverse Flow (GB > NL) starting gas day 31 March 2024 06:00 CEST. No daily capacity products will be offered on the PRISMA auction platform for the duration of the physical flow switch (estimated: one gas day). Actual information on the availability of capacity products can be found on the PRISMA platform only.

Reminder: Conversion to daylight saving time 31 March 2024
On gas day 30 March 2024 there will be a switch from wintertime to summertime. This means that this gas day will have 23 hours. To avoid any problems which may occur, please be aware of the following: BBL expects nominations according to the EDIGAS protocol. This means that a nomination for this gas day (30 March) consists of 23 hours in which, translated to UTC, the nomination for that day begins at 05:00 UTC (06:00 LET) and ends at 04:00 UTC (also 06:00 LET). When using ENOM with appropriate settings, this feature is facilitated when nominating for this gas day. When not using ENOM, please make sure that EDIGAS messages will have this time frame. Whenever possible, avoid sending in nominations in the period between 01:00 LET and 03:00 LET. Due to possible technical limitations, incoming nominations may be handled specially and different from the normal process and thus may introduce extra risks. We expect a nomination of 23 hours. Normally the daily amount will decrease with the same factor, so 23/24 part will be delivered, hourly quantities will stay the same. This last part depends on the delivery agreement between shippers. Take your hourly quantities into account with regard to the daily amount to be delivered.

Commodity Charge update
From 1 April 2024 onwards, BBL Company will make adjustments to some of its components which are part of the formula to determine the commodity charge. BBL Company’s focus is to have its commodity charge as much cost reflective as possible. Due to a substantial increase in 2024 for the electricity connection costs, the fixed fee (F) will be increased from 0.09 €/MWh to 0.175 €/MWh for both forward flow allocations as well as reverse flow allocations. Furthermore, there will be some changes applicable to the other factors of the commodity charge formula: The factor A for forward flow allocations will decrease from 0.0026 to 0.0021. The factor A for reverse flow allocations will decrease from 0.0026 to 0.0024. The factor B for reverse flow allocations will decrease from 0.0020 to 0.0000 (zero). Announcement BBL physical flow switch to Forward Flow
The BBL physical flow direction is currently in Reverse Flow mode (GB > NL). Due to recent market developments BBLC will switch the physical flow direction to Forward Flow (NL > GB), starting gas day 26 November 06:00 CEST.
Update planned maintenance 2024
Every year, BBL Company performs planned maintenance. The 15 - day period within which the planned maintenance will take place in 2024 is the period from 16 September 2024 to 30 September 2024. Further details about the exact duration and timing of the maintenance will be published through our newsletter and on the BBL Company website at a later stage.
Increase BBL Company Implicit Allocation Reverse Flow capacity SUM ‘24
BBL Company will increase its Implicit Allocation Reverse Flow capacity products (GB > NL) for April 2024 through to September 2024 to 90% of the available capacity. In the capacity table the available amounts are shown. This increased capacity release will become effective starting Tuesday 21 November at 9:00 AM UK time. BBL Company kindly refers its shippers to its broker Cavendish Markets for acquiring this capacity.
Publication of market Demand Assessment Report (DAR) for incremental capacity
From 3 July 2023 to 28 August 2023 BBL Company has asked the market for its non-binding interest in incremental capacity on the Bacton interconnection point of the BBL Interconnector. The market Demand Assessment Report for IP Bacton, as prepared by BBLC together with its neighboring TSO National Gas Transmission, is now published on the BBLC website.
